Chris Dominguez | 3B, 27 yo, 6-5, 235, BR, TR | 2009 Draft – 3 | (AAA) 132 G, 497 PA, .294/.334/.464, .798 OPS, 15 HR, 65 RBI, 4 SB/5 CS, 23 BB, 112 K
Ok, he’s pretty much a non-prospect because of the age at this point, but he’s never been to the Show, so it is what it is. He was drafted in the 3rd round in 2009 for his light-tower power and strong arm at 3B. Poor plate discipline has limited him as a professional. He’s one step from the majors, so he’ll need to keep grinding and hope for an eventual call. With the recent addition of fellow former Louisville 3B Adam Duvall to the 40-man, Dominguez’ time in the organization might be running out. I still wonder if he couldn’t whack a few home runs out of AT&T Park if he did get that call, though. Maybe someone will grab him in the upcoming Rule 5.
They said it: “Dominguez isn’t currently on the 40-man roster and is not considered one of the top prospects in the organization, but after posting a near .300 batting average in Triple-A with some power, he figures to have at least put himself back on the map.” ~ Joe Ritzo, San Jose Giants broadcaster
